Dambe Primary School and Health Care Center, Chipata District (2025/2026)
A 20kW mini-grid will provide clean energy access to 450 pupils and the community, with more than 5,000 beneficiaries.
Engineers without Borders Zambia (EWB Zambia) is currently in the process of commissioning a 20 kW solar mini-grid at Dambe Primary School and Health Care Center in Chitata District, Eastern Province. This is the third project out of the larger Engineering Brighter Tomorrows program, which aims to electrify 12 rural clinics and schools in Zambia and Malawi. To ensure the long-term sustainability of the system, the project places a strong focus on involving the community and building local capacity through training in operation and maintenance.
Chimpanje Rural Health Center was the pilot project in the Engineering Brighter Tomorrows program, and Kanyena Primary School is the second project to be completed.
